When should I start to shop for my wedding dress?
This is such a personal thing! The “golden rule” is to shop when you are ready to find “the one”!
Our advice would be when you feel ready but we suggest aiming for approximately 12 - 18 months before your big day.
12 months is the perfect time frame as it can take 5-10 months for your made-to-order gown to come in. Plus then you need time to have your alterations to make sure it fits you perfectly!

What is the price range of your dresses?
Our main collection of dresses range from £1350 -£6000, with the average gown being £2200. These dresses are made for you!
We also have our beautiful suite, “To Love, Today” which stocks all of our ready-to-wear dresses and dresses £1250 and under! We do have sample sales twice a year (typically January & August). These dresses at To Love, Today start at just £199! Appointments for To Love, Today can be made here!
How long will my dress take to arrive?
We estimate lead times to be between 5-10 months from our designers, depending on designer, customisations and style.
However, we have hand picked our designers based on them being fantastic (& talented!) suppliers - so we and they will do everything we can if you have less time.
I plan to change my weight before my big day - what should I do?
Let us know - we’ve probably helped with similar situations before and can advise you on the best plan moving forward. Just rest assured that whatever your situation, we’ve got you covered!
What should I bring to my appointment?
Underwear: three key words: nude, seamless & strapless. We highly recommend bringing some seamless, nude coloured undies or any shapewear that you feel you would like to wear on your wedding day. Don’t panic if you don’t have any of the above, we will be sure to make you feel your best regardless!
An open mind because you never know what might surprise you and when you might find “the one”
We do ask that you please don’t wear fake tan to avoid all smudges and stains on our dresses.
How many guests should I bring?
Our advice is that less is more!! We can comfortably fit up to 4 guests in each of our dressing rooms but recommend that you bring your nearest and dearest only. Keeping it intimate allows you to really focus and stay true to your vision and personal style. Too many opinions can become overwhelming and confusing.

Do I need an appointment to try on dresses?
Yes! Our shop operates on an appointment only basis to ensure that you are given the best experience at Silk & Maple!

Where should I park for my appointment?
We highly recommend parking in either the Kingfisher Leisure Centre car park, which is free for 3 hours and only a short 5 minute walk to the shop! (Just make sure you grab a free ticket for your dashboard!)
Alternatively, you can park anywhere in Sudbury for at least 1 hour, for free, any day of the week. Just be aware that most car parks ask you to get a free ticket to display!

What sizes do you stock?
Our dresses in store range from 4- 28, with the average gown being a size 14. However, we work with the best designers and dresses can be ordered from a 0-32!
You stock a designer I love but not the dress I have my eye on - what should I do?
You might be in luck - we work with the best of the best and will do everything we can to get the dress you have your eye on, in the shop for your appointment! So let us know the style name or number prior to your visit to us and we do our best to get the dress in for you, personally, to try on!
